Bruce Christian,
Pastor

Email: bchristian@whbcok.org

Bruce has been Pastor at Woodland Hills Baptist Church since August of 1992. Prior to that in 1979 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and worked for American Can Company in St. Louis, Missouri. Believing that God was calling him into full time ministry, in 1983 Bruce moved to Independence, Missouri where he worked as youth minister and attended Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Masters degree. In 1988 he moved to Shelbina, Missouri where he served as youth minister. Since 1992 Bruce and his family have resided in Newcastle.

When I first moved to Oklahoma in 1992, a man asked me, ‘Do you know what the best thing about Oklahoma is?’ I thought about his question then asked, ‘What?’ He said, ‘The people.’ I have found that to be true. My church family at Woodland Hills has been especially gracious and loving to me and my family. Though I was born and raised in Missouri, Oklahoma is now my home, not because that is where I live but because of the relationships with people I have come to know and love. If you are looking for a place to belong and be loved, I invite you to join us at Woodland Hills Baptist Church.”

Duane Kendrick, Associate Pastor

After graduating from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration, Duane attended seminary at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary at Ft. Worth, Texas. Prior to graduating from seminary, a church in Ardmore, Oklahoma, invited him to serve as youth and education minister in 1985. Twelve years of service and growth were experienced while ministering in Ardmore. During the fall of 1997, Duane and his family moved to the Bridge Creek area when he began working as Vice President of Legacy Bank in Newcastle. After eight years of banking and four years of insurance audit work, in November of 2008 the Woodland Hills family graciously offered Duane the privilege of becoming the Associate Pastor and serve with the wonderful staff of WHBC.

Mike Shelton,
Worship Pastor

Email: mshelton@whbcok.org

Mike’s ministry began in 1976 while attending Oklahoma City University where he majored in Vocal Music Education. Mike had the opportunity to serve in Southern Baptist work until 1981 when he took an unusual turn in his ministry journey. It was then that he was hired to train and work in the post production facility of Christian World Recording Studios in Oklahoma City. While this was fine tuning his musicianship his relationship with the Lord had weakened. In the fall of 1986, when Mike’s life was at its lowest, he was invited to attend worship at Woodland Hills Baptist Church. It was the ministry of Woodland Hills, more specifically, the love of the Lord through the people of Woodland Hills, that helped bring healing to Mike’s spiritual life. A year later as an active member of WHBC Mike was asked to serve as an interim bi-vocational Music Director while continuing his work in the music business. In the fall of 1993 Mike became the full time Minister of Music.

“I believe that God created me for a purpose: He placed in my life educators who helped cultivate and develop my musicianship; He allowed me to serve in a number of churches where the people encouraged and prayed for me; He gave me the opportunity to work in a professional music environment that rendered to me musical experience and training above my wildest dreams; and finally He gave me a church family that ministers to me even to this very day. God has enriched my life at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, He can do the same for you.”
